Privacy Policy

Webdev Tools ("we", "our", "us") is a free collection of web-developer diagnostic tools operated by Amityweb. This policy explains what information we process when you use the tools and how we look after it. The tools are currently open to use without an account.

Information we process

• Lookups you run. When you use a tool we process the domain name, URL or IP address you enter in order to perform the requested DNS, blacklist, HTTP header or crawlability lookup. These queries are sent to the relevant public DNS servers and websites as a normal part of the lookup.
• Your connection information. The "My Connection" tool displays your public IP address, approximate location, ISP and the browser/device details your browser shares. This is shown to you and not stored against your identity.
• Server logs. Like most websites, our server keeps standard technical logs (IP address, timestamp, requested page, user agent) for security, abuse-prevention and troubleshooting.

We do not require you to create an account to use the tools, and we do not ask for or store personal details such as your name or email to run a lookup.

How lookup results are stored

To keep the tools fast and to make shared result links load instantly, the result of a lookup is cached on our server for up to one hour, keyed only on what was looked up (for example the domain name). You can force a fresh check at any time with the "Re-check" button. Cached results are automatically discarded after the cache period.

Third-party services we use

• ip-api.com — used to look up the geolocation, ISP and network details of an IP address for the "My Connection" tool. The IP address being checked is sent to this service.
• Public DNS, RBL and web servers — DNS, blacklist, header and crawlability checks necessarily send the domain/URL you enter to the relevant public servers.
• Cloudflare Turnstile — if you use any account or contact form, we may use Turnstile to protect against automated abuse.
• Stripe — should paid plans be introduced in future, payments would be handled by Stripe and card details would never be stored on our servers.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
• We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking.
• We do not build a profile of you from the lookups you run.

We use a small number of strictly-necessary cookies and browser-storage items to make the site work (for example to keep your session secure and remember your dark-mode preference). See our Cookie Policy for the full list.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under data-protection law (such as the UK GDPR) to access, correct or erase personal data we hold about you. As we do not hold accounts or personal profiles for the public tools, in most cases there is little or no personal data to act on, but you are welcome to contact us with any request.
